“Larry” graduated from the University of Tennessee Architecture School in 1971 and also received a B.S. degree from North Carolina State in 1966. Larry began his career at the architecture and engineering firm of Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon of Nashville, TN. While at B.W.S.C. Larry designed a variety of public services buildings including community centers...read more, courthouses, city halls, fire halls and correctional facilities. In 1978 he was appointed director of the architecture department at E. Roberts Alley Engineering of Brentwood, TN. During this time Larry managed the design and construction of educational facilities and various multi-family housing projects. In 1980 Larry began his own architecture firm, Laurence P. Brown & Associates, which primarily focused on residential, historical preservation, civic and light commercial projects. He has been featured in Southern Accents magazine for the restoration of the historic home, Iron Wood in Bowling Green, KY and also designed additions to historic homes such as Green Pastures and Meeting of the Waters in Williamson County. Mr. Brown not only has designed a multitude of residences in middle Tennessee, but also the West View residential condominium complex and the Lone Oak Park condominium complex. Larry is a founding board member of the Nashville City Cemetery Association, Inc. and a former board member of Historic Nashville, Inc.
